Max-Planck sucht Doktoranden bis maximal 30

01.03.2010

Beschreibung: The International Max Planck Research School on Gravitational Wave Astronomy (IMPRS-GW) offers the unique opportunity to learn about gravitational wave research in both the theoretical and the experimental fields. The partnership of universities, leading research institutes and the GEO600 gravitational wave detector will provide our students with the opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of this exciting and promising research discipline.
Scientific research in this graduate school ranges from laser development, interferometry and quantum optics to data analysis and numerical simulations of gravitational wave sources. The IMPRS-GW is a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) at Potsdam and Hannover (Germany), the Leibniz Universitaet of Hannover and the Laser Zentrum Hannover. It aims at educating a new generation of researchers in the emerging field of gravitational wave astronomy.
The education will cover the complete scope of the field from classical interferometry on the ground and in space to advanced and nonclassical interferometry, from source modelling and perturbative studies to fully nonlinear numerical simulations and data analysis.
Methoden: classical ground based interferometry, interferometry in space, laser development and stabilization, nonclassical light and interferometry techniques, Genereal Relativity and sources of
gravitational waves, data analysis and observations, numerical relativity, theoretical astrophysics
